Interior design plays an essential role in your home’s visual aesthetic. Even more, interior design is a great way to make smaller spaces open up and look much larger than it really is. Today, we’re going to discuss 4 fun ways you can make spaces look bigger with effective interior design.

Scale Down Furniture

When it comes to furniture, it’s a good idea to think about proportions. You don’t want pieces of furniture bumping up against each other as this can emphasize the smallness of the room.

Instead, you want to create a sense of roominess by leaving space between furniture. It’s also a good idea to avoid bulky furniture that can take up too much of the room.

Incorporate Furniture Lower to the Ground

Furniture that is designed to sit low to the ground may not be the first thing you think about when making your space look larger. However, this is one of the easiest ways to create a sense of openness in small areas.

Essentially, when furniture sits lower to the ground, you create more room between your furniture and the ceilings, which is a great way to make the room feel larger.

Mirrors, Mirrors, and More Mirrors

If you’re looking for a quick and easy hack to maximize your living space, try adding mirrors. When done correctly, mirrors do a great job of creating a sense of openness, even in small living spaces. This is because mirrors not only reflect light, but they reflect the view, which easily tricks the eye to perceive more space.

Keep It Simple

It certainly never hurts to keep it simple when you need to maximize the space of a small room. Working with small spaces takes a bit of editing and a part of that editing process is arranging, adding, and removing certain pieces altogether.

The more pieces you add to your room, the more cluttered it will look and feel. If you have a lot of small objects, try grouping some together so that it can read as one installation. Additionally, you should avoid patterns that are too busy and colours that are overwhelming. Using neutral colours and patterns can help open up the overall space.

Learn More About Effective Interior Design

Just because you have a small space doesn’t mean you can’t get the most out of it. Small spaces can be fun, and with effective interior design, can help you maximize any room in your home. For the best results, consider hiring an interior designer. An interior designer understands how to make spaces more functional and appealing. They are able to assess your space and determine what the best solution is to open it up. Contact us to learn more.

The staircase is an integral element in house design. Ideally, it enables more effortless movement between levels in a home. The current trend with multileveled homes has elevated the need to design a way to access other floors. Though elevators’ advent is almost rendering traditional static stairs obsolete, installing and maintaining an elevator is more expensive.

Are there various staircase designs that you can use for your home? This article spotlights different classic designs that you should consider for your house.

Whether thinking about redesigning your staircase and looking for excellent design ideas, or building a new house and wondering which type you may need for your house, these steps will serve you well.

1. L Shaped

These straight shaped staircases ensure a 90-degree turn going right or left after landing. Additionally, the stairs are commonly used in most homes as they are simple and easy to design.

2. U Shaped

If you feel like using the staircase daily with ease, then the U shaped staircase is ideal for you. Just the way L shaped operates, the U shaped takes a full U shape. A landing is usually used to separate the two parallel segments.

3. Winder

The winder is a more complicated version of the L shaped staircase. This type has a set of winders with treads broader on one side than the other. The treads make the landing place to save space. They are ideal for limited space despite the complicated design.

4. Curved

The curved shaped staircase designs have no landing. Ordinarily, this design is continuous following the bend. This creates a striking architectural design for your house. If you are stylish and looking for a unique design for your home, then this design is ideal for you.

5. Bifurcated

Compared to a curved staircase, which generally continues with no landing, a bifurcated design resembles the iconic Titanic staircase. This type has a sweeping set of steps split into two flights going opposite directions. If you are looking for a gorgeous design for your home, then choose a bifurcated design.

Conclusion

An excellent staircase design gives your home a stylish outlook. Whether you opt for bifurcated, curved, or any form of style for your house, your budget counts. Transform your home’s outlook by collaborating with qualified interior designers to guide you in the process. Contact us to learn more.

Chances are, you’ve never thought about what an online interior design service could be until now. The good news is that online interior design works just as well as it does in-person. It even has its own unique advantages. If you’ve been looking for help designing, decorating, or furnishing a room of any sort, now is still a perfectly acceptable time to do it. All you’ll need is access to the internet, a good webcam, a microphone, and an interior designer you trust.

Interior Design Online

It really is as simple as you’re imagining. Essentially, it’s the same interior design service you’d expect without the need for anyone to visit your home personally. As long as you have a decent webcam, you can just as easily showcase the space you want to work on as you could with an in-person visit. The experience is quite short, with minimal effort on your part, while the designer should have everything they need to begin making plans. It’s quick, easy, and as convenient as interior design services get.

Another major advantage is that you have the option to choose online interior designers from nearly anywhere, not just from ones that are nearby. This means you have access to a wider variety of perspectives, ideas, and possibilities than ever before. You can browse for a designer that shares similarities with your own tastes, or maybe find one whose concepts are what you never knew you wanted. Since you can access them from anywhere, you can take the time to find the best one.

Professional Interior Design Services From Anywhere

Since 2004, I’ve been helping people create interior spaces that reflect their needs while being sustainable, efficient, and pleasant. Feel free to contact me for any questions or concerns regarding my online interior design services today.

Homeowners are putting more and more effort into designing luxury bathrooms for their homes than ever before. It’s about time we let ourselves splurge a little on our own spaces! Master suites are the perfect part of your home to pamper yourself in your design. Not sure where to start? Let a trusted interior designer customize your space for you.

Here are some of our favourite contemporary bathroom design trends from this year.

Wall-Mounted Toilets

You wouldn’t think that a toilet has the potential to bring about much design envy, but wall-mounted toilets are the exact type of toilet to pull it off. Floating toilets like the one I put in our barn refurbishment in Dorset add a clean, modern, and practical style. There are fewer nooks and crannies with a wall-mounted toilet than a traditional one, so cleaning around it is a breeze.

Floor-to-Ceiling Shower Doors

If we’re working with a smaller space, it makes sense to not make it look smaller than it already is. Using glass shower doors that extend from the floor to the ceiling creates a seamless and custom look that makes any space feel larger-than-life.

Rounded Mirrors

Your vanity mirror is an important piece of your bathroom design and rounded mirrors are a hot trend right now. Either circular or rectangular with rounded edges, both draw the eye to them more than your average straight-edged mirrors.

Wood Accents

Wood accents pair wonderfully with contemporary design elements, and they are making a comeback this year. I designed an ensuite shower room in this London apartment with a wood accent behind the sink to give a warmer feel that compliments the contemporary and modern fixtures.

Catalogues, interior design publications, and lifestyle magazines are ladled with elegant, luxurious bathrooms delicately designed to awe and dazzle. From marble floors to designer faucets, textured walls, sleek surfaces, and even the choice of curtain fabric, modern bathroom designs are the magic that bathroom designers make.

A Third Eye

A bathroom designer can see things differently. They can tell what should go where and how you can make the most of your space. A bathroom designer can work with you from the initial stages of constructing a house. Alternatively, they can aid with re-modeling or re-designing or during the renovation of your old bathroom.

Home and Away

Bathrooms can be very versatile depending on their intended use. Your home bathroom may have few applications, but this doesn’t mean it doesn’t need a little sprucing up from time to time. Bathroom designers can take a look at what you have and compare it with what you want; to bring your vision into reality with little effort. On a larger scale, luxury hotels demand luxury bathrooms. In this case, bathroom designers’ co-ordinate with other interior designers to make sure the bath area is a real work of art that matches the rest of the décor.

Why You Need a Bathroom Designer

Luxurious, ornate, minimalist or jazzy, you can create the bathroom you want by seeking the services of a bathroom designer. Numerous people have been delighted by what these artists have done for them, and so should you.

Not sure where to start? A comprehensive guide to everything you need to know about working with interior designers is just a click away.

Considering it is used by every family member daily, your bathroom requires a lot of attention. In case you have the opportunity to update the current space or begin creating one from scratch, then it would be worth investing enough time to get it right. This four-minute read offers all the consideration factors to have in mind as you design your dream bathroom.

What Clients Say About the Interior Designer

This is the most important consideration factor when planning to design your dream bathroom. Before beginning the search for ‘bathroom designers near me,’ ensure that you check out testimonials or independent reviews as they give you a clear picture of the quality to expect. Furthermore, you can research and visit different sites to see the quality of their services first hand before learning how to work with your designer.

Finalize a Budget

To create your dream room, you need to prioritize the areas to spend on and save in advance, and it narrows down to deciding on a budget. But there is some good news. You do not have to part with thousands of dollars to finally get a spa feel. You need to invest in one beautiful piece and accompany it with an equally budget-conscious backdrop.

Bathroom Layout

Before beginning your search for dream accents and statement tiles, ensure that you have carefully considered the layout for your bathroom. With proper design, your room will not just look good, but it will also be functional. When working out the layout, begin with paying attention to your routine in the room and how the available space can cater for that most effectively.

Ace the Lighting

Lighting has a crucial role in the mood and functionality of your bathroom. Even with a smaller bathroom, quality lighting could significantly elevate the feel, making it seem brighter and larger. The design should make the best use of the available natural lighting before thinking about the lighting to install. You can use warmer light for a relaxing tone in the bath. But for the bathroom vanity, always go for harsher brightness. Furthermore, dimmers are a brilliant way of switching between ambiance lighting and task.

Be Smart With Space

Avoid overloading the bathroom with trending fixtures you may have seen out there. Instead, you need to work with the size of your bathroom. If you plan well, even the smallest spaces could be turned into functional and relaxing bathrooms. To get it right, regardless of the available space, ensure you utilize every corner and chose modern designs that are also space-saving.

Ventilation Is Equally Important

Most people tend to overlook ventilation when designing a bathroom, only to regret this later on. Particularly if your room has furniture, good ventilation helps prevent condensation, which could damage the wood. Also, you do not want a damp room, so your designer must ensure space is ventilated enough.

Get the Right Fabric

Just like real wood, fabric may not be ideal for the bathroom, but there are several materials that you should avoid completely. Fibres such as linen, silk, and cotton usually trap moisture, which ends up changing its appearance. Instead, you can go for better options such as PVC and polyester.

Factor in Storage

This is one of the key features of a successful bathroom, and just having a small glass shelf is not enough. Haphazardly placed toiletries never display well. Therefore, it will be a smart move if you have a substantial vanity that has space to keep extra towels and shower gels.

Plumbing Fittings

They may not spring to mind first when thinking of your dream bathroom, but you can make a statement with your tapware. The abundant options come with a range of distinctive elements that may range from minimal to elaborate, or modern to classic.

If you implement these tips, you can be sure to achieve the bathroom of your desires with ease. Contact us to learn more.

Your first step toward finding the right interior designer for your home is to do some research on your own. Look through Pinterest, Houzz, or home magazines to find out what styles you like. Save pictures, ads, anything that you fancy. This will help you to both choose your designer and explain to them what you like in a concrete way.

Websites

After you’ve put together a sample, then you’re prepared to go looking at interior designers’ websites. Then, check out their gallery. Do you like the work they showcase? While a good designer should be able to decorate in any style you choose, if you notice that absolutely everything they’ve done is Minimalist and you’re fond of Bohemian, you might not be the best match.

Testimonials

Once you’ve found a designer whose work you admire, look to find testimonials from past customers. After all, no matter how much you like their designs, if they’re difficult to work with, it’s going to be a wretched experience.

Ask Questions

Once you’ve found an interior designer near you, check their portfolio to read their reviews. Then, you’re ready to make the call. Contact them, but be ready to ask lots of questions before you sign anything.

Ask questions about their experience and qualifications, what services they’ll provide, how long they think the project will take, and certainly cover the expense of the project. Make sure they understand your budget and are willing to work within it.

Time to Get to Work

Once you’ve gone through all these steps to your satisfaction, you’re ready to sign a contract. Be sure it specifies responsibilities, timeline, budget, and any other important aspects you’ve covered. Now you’re ready to get to work with the designer on your new interior.

Hiring an interior designer is not at all as complicated as you might think. My fee schedule is based on the services provided and the overall scale of the work. I’ve outlined the basic services and fees below, Thus, you may gain a better understanding of what is really a quite transparent transaction.

Services Portfolio

Room Schemes

This is the initial consultation; we meet and go over your visions and specific requirements. Following that, I will send you a Briefing Document that outlines my proposal. If you are happy with that, I will send you a layout, proposed colour schemes and samples, and perhaps a drawing of the finished space. Fees are based on the scale of work.

Space Planning

I can draw a new floor plan for you that maximises the space and existing layout, taking advantage of natural lighting, doorways, and electrical outlets for a simple re-organisation project.

Sourcing

My aesthetic is yours–helping you realise your interior dreams. In that light, I love to re-use pieces that are special to you. Indeed, this way your new rooms are personal. With my years in the business, my expertise goes from sourcing that piece of furniture you want to finish a room, to drawing entirely new floor plans and interiors.

Specifications

After we have agreed on the project, I can draw comprehensive specifications so that you can work with contractors directly.

Bespoke Design and Joinery

An example of my Specifications work is in designing bespoke cabinets, bookcases, and storage. I have the vendors to execute your vision, or turn the plans over to you, for your cabinet maker to complete the process.

Design Illustrations

Most of my customers have some difficulty in visualising ideas. Thus, I do offer perspective images, elevation drawings, and sketches to help you envision the finished work.

Project Coordination

I do believe that interior design projects run more smoothly with one person coordinating the work, from conception to the final floor polish. I can oversee the entire scope of work, from concepts to specifications to selecting the contractors–ensuring that you don’t have to worry about the day to day details.
